Yahoo! has always been on an acquisition spree since its beginning. Incepted during the early World Wide Web days, Yahoo! was ahead of its time concept. Soon after being founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo, Yahoo! received $2 million in venture capital in 1995. During the end of the 90's Yahoo! was a Star, with share price of about $100 per share.
Yahoo's story has always excited me, its a journey through peaks and valleys. While most of the time Yahoo! shares have been in uncertainty as to what they will cost the next day, one thing that has not changed is Yahoo's hunger for new products. Yahoo! has always been in the fore front of the Acquisition scene in the Silicon Valley with over $18 billion(approx, actual amount is some what more than this) spent on buying small and big businesses till date.
In the last 25 days, Yahoo! has acquired 3 new businesses(Web based) including the famous Micro Blogging website Tumblr. The other two are Ghost Bird Software and Rondee (free conference calling service).
Below mentioned are some of the biggest acquisition made by Yahoo!
But with competitors like Google and Facebook, the path ahead of Yahoo! will not be easy, but i am sure Yahoo! will never stop being adventurous with its nature of buying stuff a lot.
