With advent of new technology over internet almost everyday, no web service is free from its share of competition. Even the online video giant like YouTube, has also had its shares of serious competition from upstarts like Hulu, Vimeo,DailyMotion and more.
Now it seems like one of the original co-founder of YouTube, Chad Hurley is planning to launch a new rival for YouTube. YouTube was acquired by Google for a handsome 1.6 billion in November, 2006. Speaking during a Question and Answer session with Digg founder Kevin Rose at the South by Southwest (SXSW) event in Austin, Hurley tipped that he might be coming with a new video website. Hurley said that, "I wish [SXSW] was a month later because I could unveil the new product".
Hurley did not go into much detail about his product. But he quoted that his product is "primarily video-based and gives flexibility for people to work together and create content".
When Kevin Rose asked him if he intended to create a new-generation YouTube. He replied jokingly "We're not setting up to kill YouTube now. There's always going to be a place for YouTube”. Hurley also shared how YouTube was eventually sold to Google.
