Major Torrent factories shutted down by major ISP's in India

Major Torrent sharing websites like Extratorrent, and Piratebay along with video sharing websites which share copyrighted videos (like Vimeo and Dailymotion), have been blocked by major ISP's in India following a court order obtained by Copyright Labs, a Chennai-based online anti piracy service provider. According to Copyright Labs, ISPs were asked to block specific websites but in a repeat of earlier instances they ended up blocking entire domains.

It cannot be said for sure , for how long this ban will be extended. But the major websites have already played a decent game, most of these torrent sharing websites have shifted their domains to some other not so popular domains other then the .com's .

Major torrent search engine, is still working, under the domain http://www.torrentz.eu , while its .com brother remains banned.

Also, to bypass the blockage, you can use any bitTorrent Search Engine.

Similarly, most of these websites are under the process of shifting their domains. India being a large contributor of traffic to these websites, will surely give a blow to their business if the ban continues for long.

Till then here are some tips for the torrent lovers to get to these websites. (They works sometimes )

  • Use https:// instead of http:// in the URL, that takes you to the secured HTTP, and some of these websites can still be accessed this way.

  • Try finding other substitutes to the main domain name, like torrentz.eu for torrentz.com , piratebay.se for Piratebay.

  • You can also use proxy servers (hidemyass.com) to reach them anyways.

  • Reliance Broadband users, you must not worry, your ISP has'nt blocked them. Airtel ones you must look up for these alternative measures.

Do let us know through your comments, if you find some way to reach them. Darn ! i am missing them.

Thanks for Template.
