10 creative and successful Internet Startups by Indians.

An Internet Startup by a young mind, is all about a very creative, energetic and fresh environment of working. With big dreams, they work day and night, messed up, punching a day old pizza with beer and their head deep inside the computer monitor.


Around the Globe, we have witnessed many such businesses growing from seed to a fruit giving tree. Facebook, is the best amongst them, but we must not forget that Google was also a startup once, started in the garage of Larry Page. Moving on, lets concentrate on the minds from which these extraordinary ideas were born.
Today we present you with a list of Startups and their founders, who are surprisingly Indians. This list not only includes the ones that are successful but also the ones which are creative with their approach and idea.

1. FourSquare

Foursquare is a location based web application, which lets you know about the places around your current location. Foursquare makes the real world easier to use. They build tools that help you keep up with friends, discover what’s nearby, save money and unlock deals.  

Co-FounderNaveen Selvadurai

Naveen is Co-founder of foursquare. Prior to founding foursquare, he was Lead Architect at Socialight and was a Senior Software Architect with the Global Digital Business group at Sony Music Entertainment. In this role, he oversaw and developed various applications that dealt with content management and distribution of mobile products and was the lead developer of Sony's Music Box mobile application. Before Sony, he consulted for New York-based Run Tones and enjoyed software engineering stints at Sun Microsystems and Lucent Technologies.




2. BlueLithium

BlueLithium is an online advertising network, founded by Gurbaksh Chahal in January 2004. Its service is intended to join behavioral targeting with advanced data analytics to improve campaign optimization over a global advertising network.
On September 4, 2007, Yahoo! announced the acquisition of BlueLithium for $300 million.
BlueLithium is now known as Yahoo! Advertising.

Founder :  Gurbaksh Chahal

Gurbaksh Singh Chahal (born July 17, 1982) is an Indian-American internet entrepreneur and a best-selling author. By the age of 25, he founded and sold two advertising companies for a total of US$340 million.






3. SnapDeal

Snapdeal is India's largest eCommerce shopping website featuring great offers & best deals on mobiles, 
cameras, tablets, watches, apparels, dining, health etc for over 4000 cities around India.

Co-Founder & CEO : Kunal Bahl



Kunal is the co-founder and CEO of India’s largest group buying portal, SnapDeal.com.
Previously, Kunal co-founded a detergent company in the US while at college which now sells products in 3000 stores in the US. He has also worked at companies such as Deloitte Consulting and Microsoft in the US.Kunal is an engineer from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a business degree from The Wharton School.




4. FlipKart

Flipkart is an Indian e-commerce company headquartered in BangaloreKarnataka. It was started by two IIT graduates, Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, in the year 2007. They were working in Amazon.com previously. Earlier, Flipkart mainly dealt with books but now, it has expanded to electronic goods and a variety of other products.

Sachin Bansal is the Founder and CEO of Flipkart, leading E-Commerce Provider in India. An IIT Delhi Alumnus, Sachin left Amazon to start Flipkart along with a friend Binny Bansal with a mere investment of Rs 4 Lakh. Today Flipkart generates Rs 1.5 Crore a Day.  It has a record userbase of 1 Million in India only.



5. Postereous

Posterous is a simple blogging platform started in May 2008, funded by Y Combinator. It is based in San Francisco and was acquired by Twitter on March 12, 2012.

Founder & CEO : Sachin Aggarwal


Sachin Agarwal is a product designer inspired by Apple, Audi, and Amazon. 

He's never owned a PC. Sachin worked at Apple for 6 years before starting Posterous to make blogging easier. 

He graduated from Stanford University in 2002 with a degree in Computer Science and is now the CEO at Posterous.










6. Adaptly

Adaptly is changing the way brands increase engagement on social networks by helping them harness the unique value of each.

7. GumRoad

Gumroad, a website to sell ART or anything that you make and share with people on other Social networks. Self composed music, articles, pictures, posters anything, you just have to post a link to that and Gumroad will help you in selling it.

ZAPstore.com is an online shopping website to buy Mobiles, Tablets, Cameras, Music players at Lowest Price. Its functional in INDIA while serving all over the world.

9. ClickIndia

ClickIndia is a website to post free classified ads on internet. The website helps many across India to sell their wares or find whatever exclusive service they may be looking for.

Founder : Pankaj Agarwal

10. MessageDance

MessageDance provides next generation email marketing solutions for companies. By leveraging latest advancements in social media, mobile and location .

Founders : Brij Singh & Prabhjot Singh Lamba
