We all know Yahoo!. It deserves to be known. It was amongst the first few websites to lay the foundation of open world on Internet. Yahoo! is one of the most diverse Internet company with its services spreading from Search Engine, Email Service to Online Ads. But in recent years, Yahoo! has faced some difficult times too. Timeline Yahoo!

1991 - Founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo.

1995 - Raises $2 million in venture capital.

1996 - Joined by Jeff Mallet.

2000 - All time high of $118.75 a share on January 3.

2002 - Tries to buy Google for $3 billion. Offer refused by Google.

2004 - Launches its web-crawling algorithm, similar to Google.

2004 - Stock drops to $4.05 per share.

2007 - CEO Timmy Semel quits. Jerry Yang takes over.

2008 - Yang refuses Microsoft's buyout offer of $47.5 billion, shareholders not happy.

2011 - Company valued at $22.24 billion.

2013 - Rumours float of a tie-up between Facebook and Yahoo! to create a search engine.

Yahoo! is still making money and is profitable with over 13,000 employees working for it, but its total value is 10% of what it was in 2000.
