How to Install Incompatible Apps on your Android Device from Google Play

Google Android Market is the best place to get awesome apps, which are addictive and useful. There are bright chances of these apps running fine on most of the latest Android devices, but some times you do get a message showing that your device is incompatible, restricting you from installing that app. But not anymore, because you can bypass this filter by root access.

Some apps might not work after you install them using the below mentioned tweak, but most of them will. And in any case you don't lose anything. So just follow these simple steps and get those apps.

You must know that to do this, you need to root your phone and that might void the warranty of your smartphone, because company's don't allow that.

Introduction

Android OS carries a root check to filter whether an Android App is compatible or not with your Android App. So our main aim will be to bypass that filter.
Your Android OS will show “this device is incompatible” whenever it encounters an incompatible app. If we manage to bypass this root check, we can run that non-supported Android App in our Device.

Step By Step Guide

Supporting Software Installation

You first need to root your Android Smartphone or Tablet using SingleOneClick from your computer. To download SingleOneClick, visit  ShortFuse.ORG and download the link from there.
Now, install ES File Explorer Free Android App from Google Play Store.

Editing Build.PROP

Build.PROP is your Android OS File which contains all the information about your device model in it. It contains few bits of text. If you edit this file and change the device model then Google Play and Other Apps will think that you are using different Android Device.
But be Careful as it is also very important file.
To edit it follow these steps :
Step 1 : Launch ES File Explorer.
Step 2 : Open ES File Explorer’s setting screen and enable the options, “Root Explorer” and “Mount File System” by ticking the checkbox in front of them.
Step 3 : Navigate to system/directory on your Android Device and locate Build.PROP file.

Step 4 : Copy Build.PROP to some other location for safety. Creating Backup of this file is very important. Let say, you have copied it to /sdcard/folder

Step 5 : Now, navigate to original Build.PROP, Long-press it and open it as Text using ES Note Editor App.

Step 6 : Search and Find ro.product.model and ro.product.manufacturer. These are having Device Model and Manufacturer’s Name.
Step 7 : Change them to some other Device’s detail for which the Android App is compatible. For e.g., To pretend Samsung Nexus S use :
  • ro.product.model = Nexus S
  • ro.product.manufacturer = Samsung
Step 8 : After Editing, Save the file.
Step 9 : Navigate Settings >> Applications >> Manage Applications. Select Google Play App and Clear its Cache.
Step 10 : Restart Your Device, and you are good to go.
Now, you can enjoy using that incompatible Android App on your device. If you are facing any problem, just post your query through comment.
